Regarding those spiritual leaders of falsehood who can be found in our times,

Those Who deem themselves to have worked real miracles,

Such as for those who visit them in the hope of being endowed with sons and of fulfilling any of their aspirations. When he who sought their help is endowed with sons and all his wish are gratified, they attribute it to their own powers,

Regarding those, the Rebbe had a fable: a wayfarer encountered a wolf whom he feared, and pointed his walking stick forward, aiming it like a gun, what is called “biks”, pretending he was about to fire at the wolf with his stick, to strike awe in the wolf’s heart.

Meanwhile, another man was aiming a real gun at the wolf, and smote the beast. Thus, the one who pointed his stick deemed it was he who had smitten it , ignorant of the fact that the wolf was killed by the man who aimed the real gun.

Obviously, a wolf cannot be smitten with a mere stick.

Those aforementioned are exactly the same:

Since in every generation there are true righteous ones whose prayer is all-powerful

And all good tidings and every single event in this world is the effect of their powers,

While those spiritual leaders of falsehood deem it was their own feat,

Just like that aforementioned wayfarer who imagined he had smitten the wolf with his stick.

But the truth is, everything is the deed of true righteous men, who are all powerful, and so on…
